“Diamonds from the Glacier”
- Daniel Owl -
After hours of chasing the fading light through the Highlands, the horizon finally opened. I had been driving for three hours, watching a silent battle in the sky—a dance of fire and shadow between the sun and the clouds.
When the engine stopped, the silence of Diamond Beach was overwhelming. There it was: the colossal glacier, a monolith of ice under the watchful eye of the moon hanging over the bridge. At that moment, the light shifted again. It wasn’t just a sunset; it was a transformation. Each minute, the sky bled into new colors, reflecting on the ice fragments that fought the tide.
Walking across that endless black sand, I felt the insignificance that I always seek. The ice pieces, melting and turning into diamonds, are nature’s ephemeral sculptures. This is why I chose this land to be my home: to find myself small every day, to be swallowed by greatness, and to find peace in the immensity of what remains unchanged.
