The Viking Village of Vestrahorn: A Story That Was Never Filmed
- Daniel Owl -
It was built to tell a story that was never filmed.
From a distance, it looks like nothing more than an old film set standing beneath the dramatic mountains of Vestrahorn, on Iceland's southeastern coast. But once you step inside the Viking village, something begins to change.
You start to connect with the landscape around you and imagine the stories that could have been told there. Fires burning in the darkness. Prisoners being brought through the village. Warriors standing guard to protect it. Shamans and storytellers gathered around the fire.
And suddenly, what once looked like an abandoned set becomes something else entirely.
Sometimes, when we find ourselves in places that may seem simple at first, our imagination begins to wander. We start to notice details and imagine stories where others might see nothing more than an old set, slowly weathered by time.
Perhaps some places don't need their stories to be told for us.
Perhaps all they need is someone willing to imagine them.
